Alex Woolf, nado en 1963 é un profesor e historiador da Universidade St Andrews, Escocia,[1] especializado na historia das Illas británicas e Escandinavia na Alta Idade Media e as súas vinculacións con Gales e Escocia. É o autor do segundo volume de New Edinburgh History of Scotland: From Pictland to Alba: 789 - 1070, polo que gañou no ano 2008 o premio Saltire Society polo «libro histórico do ano». É lector en historia temperá celta e escocesa na Universidade de Edimburgo, e da Universidade de Sheffield.[2][3][4]
