Sponge é unha banda estadounidense de rock alternativo procedente de Detroit, Míchigan, formado en 1991 por Vinnie Dombroski, Mike Cross, Tim Cross, Jimmy Paluzzi e Joey Mazzola. Dombroski e os irmáns Cross eran membros fundadores da banda de hard rock Loudhouse, aos que posteriormente se lles uniu Mazzola pouco antes da súa desaparición.
