O Oscar á mellor curtametraxe animada (Academy Award for Animated Short Film) é un premio entregado pola Academia das Artes e das Ciencias Cinematográficas como parte dos premios Oscar. Entrégase dende a 5ª edición dos Óscar. A Academia define curtametraxe como un filme de "non máis de corenta minutos, incluíndo todos os créditos".[1]
A categoría foi coñecida como "Short Subjects, Cartoons" (“Curtametraxes, animación”) dende 1932 a 1970 e como "Short Subjects, Animated Films" (“Curtametraxes, filmes animados”) dende 1971 a 1973, recibindo dende 1974 o nome actual. Na categoría destaca Walt Disney, xa que recibiu nela doce dos seus vinte e dous Oscar, incluíndo un premio póstumo en 1968. Ademais, Disney recibiu once dos doce primeiros premios. As series Silly Symphonies, de Disney, e Tom and Jerry, de Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, foron as máis premiadas, cada unha con sete premios.
Ata 1952 só eran candidatas curtametraxes estadounidenses. Durante as primeiras cinco décadas o premio entregábase ao produtor, mais na actualidade entrégase á "persoa individual máis directamente responsable do concepto e da execución creativa do filme. No caso de que máis dun individuo estea involucrado direcamente e de xeito importante nas decisións creativas, pode entregarse unha segunda estatua".[2]
